22nd-25th November Back to the Future took place at Savio House in Bollington, UK. The relics of Don Bosco arrive in Great Britain on January 4th as part of a world-wide celebration of the saint’s birth 200 years ago. ON the 11th to the 14th October, myself and Partick Kerridge attended a DBYN network meeting in Logroño, Spain. The meeting was hosted by the Spanish youth ministry team, Confe Don Bosco, who were also holding their 17th congress of the Salesian youth centres at the same time. What a great summer we’ve had as Salesians in the youth ministry! Do write in and tell us about your experiences and give us any photos you would like to share! The first Youth Ministry Weekend this year is 2-4th November and is all about evaluation, setting up of this year’s small teams and planning the year ahead. As the Youth Ministry Team of the Salesian Province of St Thomas of Canterbury, we work to recognise and connect with the aspirations of the young, welcoming them – seeing our youth ministry not as a product, but as an experience of relationship – both within the formal and non-formal educative field. Our vision sees the young as ‘children of God’ deeply loved by Him, whoever and wherever they are.

The vision of our Province is that we present a dynamic and energetic youth ministry team with SDB leadership and membership; which develops a real partnership with co-workers; which has an impact on the local, national and international scene; and which provides formation programmes so that all who engage with us also experiences Salesian formation at some level.

So who are the Salesians?

They are a Roman Catholic Religious Order founded by St John Bosco – a priest who worked with the young and the poor. Today they have projects all around the world – including schools, homes for street children, parishes, youth centres, Retreat centres and training centres.
